COMING IN 2025: Ghost Town Recipes of New Mexico & New "All Things Old West" Podcast
...to the “ALL THINGS OLD WEST” podcast. I am your host, Kevin McDevitt; Wild West historian and author. I’ve spent the last , shall we say, so many decades, in the southwest exploring ghost towns, famous western places, Old West museums and more than my share of old libraries conducting research. Simply put…I just love the Old West and everything about it! In writing my first book ‘The History of the St. James Hotel, Cimarron New Mexico,’ I was opened to a new world, which really had a profound impact on my life. This endeavor allowed me to meet other western authors, museum curators, western hotel owners, old map specialists and a multitude of experts in the Wild West field. And of course being me…I just loved every minute of talking to these folks! I enjoyed it so much, I thought maybe other fans of the American West and Wild West aficionados would enjoy it also. So enter the 'ALL THINGS OLD WEST' Podcast.
Here, we are going to delve deeply into various aspects of the Old West. Some of the subjects I see discussing here are: Gambling in the west; cowboy hats; mining in the west; Ghost Towns; the Santa Fe Ring, the Shootists, Legends of the west; Western TV shows; Stage Coaches; The Pinkertons; Boom Towns; Saloon & brothels; Old West hotels (maybe we will even visit a few); famous western towns (again, maybe we will visit a few); and some western lore… Well, you get the idea…'All Things Old West.' And there is just so much to cover! We are going to talk about some really cool stuff and have a lot of fun doing it….so stay tuned.
